Easy Air Fryer Egg On A Toast

This recipe is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a light dinner. It is easy to make, needs only a few ingredients, and takes very little time. When you are busy or tired, this recipe is very helpful. It is also great for children and adults.

Egg on toast is a classic meal. Many people cook it in a pan or oven. But using an air fryer makes it faster and easier. The toast becomes crispy, and the egg cooks perfectly in the center.

You can keep this recipe simple with only bread and egg, or you can add cheese, vegetables, or spices. It is very flexible. You can make it according to your taste.

The best bread for this recipe is thick sandwich bread. Thick bread holds the egg better and does not break easily. If the bread is too thin, the egg may spill over the sides.

Before adding the egg, we press the center of the bread to make a small hole. This helps keep the egg in place while cooking. You can use a spoon or the bottom of a glass to gently press the bread.

This recipe is also good because it does not need much oil. The air fryer uses hot air to cook the food evenly. The result is crispy toast with a soft or slightly runny egg, depending on how long you cook it.

Cooking time is very important. If you like a soft egg yolk, cook for a shorter time. If you prefer a fully cooked yolk, cook a few minutes longer.

You can also add cheese around the egg for extra flavor. Cheddar, mozzarella, or any grated cheese works well. The cheese melts nicely in the air fryer.

This meal looks beautiful when served. You can sprinkle fresh herbs like parsley or add black pepper on top. Serve it with a small salad, avocado slices, or fresh fruit for a complete meal.

Ingredients

2 slices thick sandwich bread
2 eggs
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
1–2 tablespoons grated cheese (optional)
Butter or cooking spray (optional, for light greasing)

Optional toppings:
Chili flakes
Paprika
Fresh herbs
Avocado slices

Step-by-Step Instructions

First, preheat your air fryer to 180°C for 3–4 minutes.

Take the bread slices and place them on a flat surface.

Using the back of a spoon or a glass, gently press the center of each bread slice to make a small hole. Do not press too hard. The bread should not tear.

If you like, lightly spread butter on the bread or spray a little cooking spray.

Place the bread slices in the air fryer basket. Make sure they lay flat.

Carefully crack one egg into the center hole of each bread slice.

Add salt and black pepper on top.

If you are using cheese, sprinkle it around the egg or on top.

Cook at 180°C for 6–10 minutes.

Check after 6 minutes. If you want a soft yolk, remove it earlier. If you want the yolk fully cooked, cook a few minutes longer.

Once done, carefully remove from the air fryer.

Add extra toppings if you like.

Serve immediately while warm and crispy.

Tips & Tricks

• Use thick bread to prevent breaking.
• Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
• Check early to control yolk texture.
• Add cheese for extra flavor and crispiness.
• Use parchment paper if your basket has large holes.

Notes

• Cooking time may change depending on your air fryer model.
• If your eggs are large, cooking time may be slightly longer.
• For extra crispy toast, cook the bread alone for 2 minutes before adding the egg.
