Air Fryer Fish Fillets (Fish Fallet)

Air fryer fish fillets are a quick and healthy way to enjoy crispy golden fish without deep frying. They turn out flaky inside and crunchy outside, perfect for a light dinner or lunch. This recipe works with white fish such as cod, tilapia, haddock, or catfish.

You don’t need much oil because the air fryer makes the coating crisp with hot air circulation. You can season the coating to your taste – mild with just salt and pepper, or spiced up with paprika, garlic powder, or chili. Serve with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or your favorite dip for a restaurant-style meal at home.

Ingredients

  • 4 white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, haddock, or catfish)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour if needed)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Cooking spray or a little oil for brushing

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Fish

  1. Pat fish fillets dry with paper towels.
  2. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Make the Coating

  1. In one bowl, add flour.
  2. In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
  3. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Step 3: Coat the Fillets

  1. Dip each fish fillet first in flour, then in egg, then in the breadcrumb mixture.
  2. Press gently to help the coating stick.

Step 4: Air Fry

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  2. Lightly spray or brush the basket with oil.
  3. Place coated fish fillets in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).
  4. Spray the tops with a little oil for extra crispiness.
  5. Cook for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and fish flakes easily with a fork.

Step 5: Serve

  • Remove from the air fryer and serve hot with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or dipping sauce.

Tips & Tricks

  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket – cook in batches if needed.
  • If using frozen fish fillets, thaw completely before coating.
  • Add chili powder or cayenne pepper for a spicy version.
